Business System of a True Twitter Twenius
It's hard to believe that celebrities, politicians and well known people from @RichardBranson to @BrookeHogan to @HulkHogan to @SolangeKnowles and others, are stampeding to establish themselves as part of the Twitter community.
But Twitter is far more intimate than that. What a lot of people do not realize is that Twitter is a local area phenomena as well. More likely than not, your town government is using Twitter, your local TV and radio news, your local Fire Department, your library, your community college, even the gal that bagged your groceries recently. If they are not on Twitter now, they'll likely be on soon.
But there's another force moving fast and furious on Twitter. It's an undercurrent of a more serious nature whereby businesses and entrepreneurs are starting to tap the profitable potential of Twitter. When we witness successful companies such as: @RichardatDELL, @UrbanOutfitters or @lacoste piling on to the Twitter bandwagon, it's definitely time to to start planning YOUR Twitter strategy.
Perhaps this "craze" boils down to the time tested fact that a significant amount of business actually occurs in social gatherings, at cocktail parties, on the golf course, or at numerous other social events. Now, through Twitter it's easy to benefit from an online version of a non-stop 24 hour, 7 day a week cocktail party of incredible proportions.
It's hard to overlook some of these facts and stories:
- "TechCrunch CEO states "about 1% of our total traffic comes from twitter." ~BusinessWeek. Do the math and that's over 14,000 unique visitors per month.
- "Global Twestival used Twitter to raise over $250,000 as of February 2009 providing clean water for just over 17,000 people in Ethiopia, Uganda and India"
- "Unique visitors to Twitter increased 1,382 percent year-over-year, from 475,000 unique visitors in February 2008 to 7 million in February 2009, making it the fastest growing site in the Member Communities category for the month. Zimbio and Facebook followed, growing 240 percent and 228 percent, respectively."
- "The average unique visitor went to Twitter.com 14 times during the month and spent an average of seven minutes on the site."
What does all this mean? It means that if you are an entrepreneur or own a business, make your plans soon to get over to Twitter and set up a Twitter account.
Easy enough?
Well, not exactly. Once you have your Twitter account opened, that's when the mystery begins. It's a very very simplistic concept, but like playing chess, unless you have a clear strategy, you're going to soon be scratching your head.
Thankfully, there's help. Internet strategist and social media marketing expert, Dan Hollings has spent over a year researching and testing Twitter strategies for business. Along the way, Dan wrote 100 of the most popular Twitter tips found anywhere online. Next he created a toolbar for Mac or PC that places over 230 Twitter tools, tips and apps within one-click of your Twitter activities. Recently, he released his remarkable Twitter training program called, "Twitter Twenius" (that's Twitter-talk for genius).
Here is a basic Twitter tip, to wet your whistle:
When Twitter is used in marketing, it's a soft close. In other words, people can get to know you without giving you a name and email straight away. It's far easier to move a Twitter follower along your path (or funnel) to more engagement later, than to go from cold contact to full close in one fell swoop.
It goes without saying that there's a lot more to learn, but if you're looking for the money in Twitter or a way to accelerate the Twitter rocket boosters within all your promotional campaigns whether in your local area or throughout the world, I highly recommend Twitter Twenius.
